Turkey has long been a favourite holiday destination for families from all over the world, but like any other country, it also experiences its own set of challenges, such as the recent political protests and demonstrations.

However, this is usually no cause for concern. The city still offers plenty of family-friendly attractions, from boat rides on the Bosphorus to exploring the Hagia Sophia, which are generally unaffected by political events.
Check government travel advice from the UK Foreign Office or your local embassy before departure. Most of the time, there will be specific information about any ongoing demonstrations and areas where protests are expected.
If you are in a big city like Istanbul, stay away from public squares and political buildings where gatherings might take place. Museums, parks, and cultural sites are more fun and might be safer instead.
Coastal resorts remain the best choice, especially during protests. These areas are designed for family holidays and are rarely impacted by political events. Also, in case of anything unexpected or if you have any concerns, don't be shy to ask. The locals, hotel staff, and tour operators are usually well-informed about local developments. They can provide reliable guidance on where to go and what to avoid.
Protests and demonstrations always raise concerns, even in your own country, let alone when visiting a new place. The best way is to follow local news and reports, and check out travel advisories.
