Breakfast Review At Metropole Bar & Kitchen

After a great night’s sleep, we headed down for breakfast at Metropole Bar & Kitchen on the ground floor of Hotel Indigo Los Angeles Downtown—and it turned out to be the perfect way to start our day. Unlike the usual hotel buffet hustle, this was a relaxed à la carte experience with friendly, attentive table service and a peaceful atmosphere that made us feel properly looked after.

The space itself is stylish, open, and light-filled with a modern yet welcoming vibe. It wasn’t overly busy when we arrived, which only added to the calm. The staff greeted us warmly, offered water and coffee right away, and took our order promptly. One of the best things about dining here was how quickly the food came out—beautifully presented, fresh, and piping hot.

The kids were in for a treat: one had the Brioche French Toast, dusted with powdered sugar, while the other ordered the Buttermilk Pancakes—a generous three-stack served with rich maple syrup. The portions were enormous by UK standards. They both looked stunned when the plates arrived, wide-eyed and laughing at the sheer size of them. Needless to say, they did their best, but neither could quite finish!

My wife ordered the Eggs Benedict, which was creatively done on sourdough toast with Impossible mince instead of ham, perfectly poached eggs, golden breakfast potatoes, and a rich, velvety hollandaise. She loved how flavourful it was—familiar yet inventive—and the balance of textures on the plate was spot on.

As for me, I went off-menu and requested a vegan burrito—and the kitchen didn’t disappoint. It was packed full of crispy potatoes, fresh avocado, sautéed onions, mushrooms, spinach, and bell peppers, all wrapped in a spinach tortilla and served with a tangy salsa verde on the side. They even added Impossible mince to give it extra flavour and protein. Every bite was fresh, hearty, and satisfying.

What made this breakfast extra special wasn’t just the food—it was the whole experience. The dining room had a calm energy, brightened up by the soft natural light streaming in through the large windows. The staff were a genuine highlight. Every single server had a big smile and a positive energy that instantly made you feel welcome. They were attentive without hovering, always available when we needed something but never intrusive. From taking our custom vegan requests with no fuss to checking in on us mid-meal, they were fast, efficient, and warm throughout.

It felt like the kind of breakfast that sets the tone for the rest of your day—not just because the food was fantastic, but because of how easy, relaxing, and well looked-after we felt. A true hidden gem of a hotel breakfast experience—chilled, delicious, and served with heart.
