Do Planes Still Give Toys to Kids in 2025?

If you have travelled with kids before, you know how much of a hassle it can be, especially if you don't come fully prepared. You have to make sure they have food and snacks, clothes to change into (sometimes), and most importantly, entertainment to keep them busy and give you some peace of mind throughout the flight.

You probably already know you can access the internet on most planes, and play music and kids' shows. But are there other complementary forms of entertainment? Do planes still give toys to kids in 2025?

Do Airlines Still Give Toys To Kids in 2025?

The simple answer is sometimes, and not all airlines. Some still give toys, but it depends on the airline, the route, and even the class you are flying in.

Full-service airlines like Emirates, Qatar Airways, Singapore Airlines, and British Airways are known for giving kids toys, especially on long-haul flights. This includes colouring books and crayons, soft plush toys, puzzles, activity kits, and themed packs.

Why Some Airlines Don't Give Kids Toys

Some airlines stopped giving toys to kids to cut costs, especially after the COVID pandemic. Giving out thousands of toys every year costs a lot, so some carriers decided to remove them from their budget.

Other airlines decide to focus on digital entertainment. Most planes now have seatback screens or allow passengers to connect their devices to an onboard Wi-Fi system, so kids can watch movies, play games, or listen to music.

Airlines like Ryanair and EasyJet don't offer toys, but they do allow parents to bring their own toys for their kids. Others, like Southwest Airlines, sell small activity packs and playsets in their onboard shop.

How to Make Flying Fun for Kids in 2025

As a parent, it is definitely your responsibility to make sure that your child is entertained and comfortable during your flights, whether or not you get toys on board. To make flying even more fun, here are some simple ideas:

  • Bring your own activity kit - Pack a small bag with your child’s favourite toys, colouring books, crayons, or puzzles. Having their own favourite toys in hand might be more comfortable.
  • Download shows and games in advance - Even if the plane has Wi-Fi or seatback screens, it is safer to have your child’s favourites ready offline in case the system doesn’t work.
  • Pack snacks they love - A hungry child can get restless quickly. Having snacks can be a lifesaver.
  • Try surprise gifts - Buy a small toy or activity they haven’t seen before and give it to them once you are on the plane. The novelty will keep them busy.
  • Use creative games - Things like drawing challenges can keep them entertained without needing extra items.

Conclusion

In conclusion, planes still do give toys to kids, but not all airlines. Full-service carriers like Emirates and Qatar Airways still make an effort to hand out small gifts like colouring books, plush toys, and puzzles.

On the other hand, many budget airlines, such as Ryanair, EasyJet, Jet2, and Southwest Airlines, have stopped giving toys for free, focusing instead on selling activity kits or on in-flight entertainment. Before you book your plane ticket, always call the airline to confirm what toys are available first.
