One of the unexpected highlights of our stay at the DoubleTree by Hilton Brighton Metropole was discovering just how impressive the onsite LivingWell Health Club is. For us, keeping up a bit of exercise when we’re away always helps us feel balanced and energised, and this gym made that incredibly easy. The fact that it’s open 24/7 meant we could fit our workouts around everything else we had planned, whether that was an early morning session before breakfast or something later in the evening after exploring Brighton’s seafront.
The gym is located within the hotel and feels so much more than just a typical hotel fitness room. As soon as we walked in, we were struck by how spacious, clean, and well-designed it was. There’s a full weights area equipped with everything you could possibly need — dumbbells, barbells, resistance machines, and benches — all neatly arranged and in excellent condition. The lighting is warm but focused, giving the space an energising feel, and the large mirrors make it easy to keep an eye on form while training. It genuinely felt like being in a dedicated fitness club rather than a hotel gym.
For cardio lovers, the range of machines is amazing. There are several top-quality treadmills, cross trainers, and rowing machines, all smooth to use and well-maintained. I particularly loved the Peloton bike, which added a fun and interactive element to my workout. Having access to those live or on-demand classes felt like a little luxury, especially when paired with the upbeat music and the energy of the instructors. It’s such a motivating feature and not something you often find in hotel gyms.
We found ourselves using the gym every day during our stay. Some mornings, we’d head down for a light session before breakfast — a quick jog on the treadmill, a few weights, and then a stretch before heading out for the day. On other days, we’d pop in later, when the gym was quiet, for a longer strength session or some time on the rower. It was always spotless, the equipment worked perfectly, and it had everything we needed for a proper workout.
What I loved most, though, was how comfortable the atmosphere felt. The space is modern and professional, but still welcoming. It’s not intimidating, and it’s suitable for every type of guest — from dedicated gym-goers to anyone wanting to move a little during their holiday. There’s also plenty of open space for bodyweight exercises, stretching, or yoga, which makes it really versatile.
Beyond the equipment, the LivingWell Health Club also has a friendly and supportive vibe. The staff are approachable and happy to help with anything, whether it’s explaining how to use a piece of equipment or just offering a cheerful hello when you walk in. It adds that personal touch that makes the experience even better.
It’s easy to see that the LivingWell Health Club has been designed with care and attention to detail. The combination of free weights, machines, and cardio equipment makes it ideal for all kinds of workouts, and the quality of everything gives it a premium feel. Even the small touches, like clean towels, sanitising wipes, and good lighting, add to the experience and make you feel looked after.
For a family like ours, staying active while travelling is something we all value, and it was such a treat to have a facility like this right downstairs. After each workout, we’d walk back to our suite feeling refreshed, recharged, and ready to enjoy the rest of the day — whether that meant heading to the beach, exploring Brighton’s lanes, or simply relaxing on our balcony with the sea breeze drifting in.
Our stay at the DoubleTree by Hilton Brighton Metropole was already special, but having access to the LivingWell Health Club made it even more memorable. It’s one of those hotel gyms that truly stands out — beautifully equipped, open at all hours, and genuinely enjoyable to use. Whether you’re someone who never misses a workout or just likes to stay active while away, this health club is the perfect addition to an already fantastic seaside escape.
