Is Santorini Still Worth Visiting with Kids in 2025?

When you travel with kids, you don’t just think about beauty and views. You also think about safety, comfort, food, and activities. And while Santorini, being one of the most famous islands in the world, is popularly known as a romantic place for couples and honeymooners, most parents often wonder if it is an ideal place for kids.

Family-Friendly Activities

This is one of the concerns when it comes to travelling with children. Are there enough activities to keep them occupied and entertained?

Well, if you are planning a trip to this beautiful island, you will be pleased to know that there are many things you can do together as a family that your kids will enjoy. Starting with beaches such as Kamari or Perissa. These have soft sand and shallow waters where kids can play safely.

Boat trips are also fun for kids. Families can enjoy short boat rides to nearby islands or the volcano. You can also stop at hot springs, where kids can splash around. Exploring Santorini’s villages is another enjoyable activity. Places like Pyrgos and Megalochori are calmer than the busy towns of Oia and Fira, which makes them easier to walk around with children.

For something educational, the island has museums such as the Museum of Prehistoric Thera, where children can learn about ancient life on the island. Or, you can visit Akrotiri, the famous archaeological site often called the “Greek Pompeii.”

And of course, there are the beautiful sunsets. Find a calm spot away from the crowds, get some snacks and drinks and turn the sunset into a special family memory.

Food and Accommodation

Another important thing to consider when travelling with kids is food and accommodation. While adults love to try out different local delicacies, kids might need something different or more familiar to them.

In Santorini, you have nothing to worry about. You will find plenty of simple foods, from local cuisines to international dishes. Greek food itself is very family-friendly, and many restaurants and taverns are welcoming to families and often provide special food for children.

When it comes to accommodation, families have multiple good choices. Choose accommodation in areas that are flatter and closer to the beaches and other activities, with easy access to shops, and more space for kids to move around.

If you prefer something more private, you can find family villas or apartments with kitchens. This might be the perfect choice when travelling with younger children, as it allows you to prepare simple meals or snacks whenever needed.

Safety and Comfort

Santorini is a safe island, and crime is very low. The main concern for families is the heat in summer. The island can get very hot in July and August, and walking in the sun with kids can be a challenge.

If you are planning a trip, going in May, June, September, or October is a good time, as the weather is warm but not too hot.

Conclusion

If your family loves adventure and exploring, then Santorini can be a magical trip. You will enjoy the beaches, boat rides, charming villages, and beautiful sunsets together, creating memories that will last a lifetime.

Make sure to choose the best accommodation, considering your kids’ specific needs. Choosing the right time to visit, like spring or autumn, and avoiding summer, when it is too hot, is also something to keep in mind.
