For the next stop on our New York trip, we checked into LUMA Hotel Times Square, and it did not disappoint. We were given a beautiful suite with a king bed for my wife and I and a sofa bed for the children, and from the moment we walked in, it was clear this was going to be a brilliant few nights.
LUMA sits on 41st Street between Broadway and the Avenue of the Americas, just a block from Bryant Park and only a few hundred metres from Times Square itself. It's genuinely one of the best locations we've stayed in on this whole trip: close enough to walk to Times Square, Broadway and Rockefeller Center within minutes, yet somehow the hotel itself felt calm and quiet once the door closed behind us, a proper retreat from the noise and energy of Midtown just outside. Being this central meant we could nip out for an evening show or wander back to Times Square whenever the mood took us, without ever needing to think about taxis or the subway.
Our room was beautifully put together, modern and bright, with a striking abstract mural behind the headboard that gave the whole space real character rather than feeling like a standard hotel room. The king bed was dressed in crisp white linen and looked wonderfully inviting, and just beyond it sat a comfortable grey sofa that converted into a bed for the children, tucked into its own separate seating area with a coffee table and armchair.
The bathroom was sleek and modern too, with a glass-walled walk-in shower, textured white tiling and a beautifully lit mirror. Little details like the neatly folded towels and designer toiletries tucked into an in-wall shelf made the whole space feel properly considered.
LUMA really went above and beyond when it came to the little extras. Every room comes with a Nespresso coffee machine, and ours arrived alongside a bottle of prosecco, still water, a couple of macarons wrapped in ribbon, and even a set of glasses branded with the hotel's logo. There was also a lovely little "Adventures in New York City" activity book for the children, alongside a soft toy each, which they absolutely loved finding waiting for them on the desk.
The bathrooms themselves were stocked with C.O. Bigelow toiletries, and the beds were dressed with lovely soft linens that made bedtime just as comfortable as everything else about the stay.
What really made the stay, though, was the service. The staff at LUMA were fantastic from check-in right through to the day we left: warm, welcoming and genuinely eager to please. Every question we had was answered properly and with a smile, and nothing ever felt like a scripted response, it all felt like people who actually wanted us to have a great stay. It's the sort of hospitality that makes a hotel memorable, not just comfortable.
Our stay at LUMA Hotel Times Square was fantastic. The suite was spacious and stylishly finished, the welcome amenities were a genuinely lovely touch for both the adults and the children, and the location could not have been better for a family wanting to be right in the middle of everything New York has to offer. Add in staff who were warm and attentive throughout, and it's easy to see why this hotel comes so highly recommended.
If you're planning a trip to New York and want to be right in the thick of Times Square without sacrificing on comfort or quiet, LUMA Hotel Times Square is well worth booking.
