Omni Los Angeles Hotel Gym And Pool Review

During our family stay at the Omni Los Angeles Hotel at California Plaza, one of the biggest highlights—beyond the plush beds and fantastic location—was the 4th-floor gym and outdoor swimming pool. Tucked away from the bustling lobby and accessible via a quick lift ride, this area quickly became a daily ritual for us. It struck the perfect balance between wellness and relaxation, giving everyone in our family—from the kids to the grown-ups—a space to move, recharge, and enjoy.

The fitness centre is impressive, both in size and the range of equipment available. Open 24 hours a day, it meant we never felt restricted by schedule—early birds and night owls were equally catered for. The gym is well-lit, modern, and spotlessly clean. There’s something energising about walking into a workout space that feels fresh and organised. For our kids, both enthusiastic runners, the treadmills were the star attraction. They loved hopping on in the mornings, challenging each other to mini races, or just getting in a light jog before breakfast. The treadmills had digital screens and felt up to date, with built-in entertainment features to help pass the time.

Meanwhile, I found myself gravitating toward the elliptical machines and free weights, enjoying a quiet workout while overlooking the skyline. There were also stationary bikes, strength machines, resistance bands, yoga mats, and incline benches, giving a good variety for full-body training. The gym provided towels and bottled water, along with chilled fruit and a few seating areas near the entrance, which was a nice touch. It never felt overcrowded, and even during peak hours, there was always a sense of calm and privacy.

Just beyond the gym doors, through a set of glass panels, lies the rooftop pool—a gem in the heart of downtown Los Angeles. Heated and open from early morning until late evening, the pool quickly became our favourite place to unwind. It’s long and narrow, built more for laps than lounging, but that suited us perfectly. Our kids had a blast splashing around and trying to swim from end to end, while we floated peacefully and took in the surroundings.

Despite being surrounded by towering buildings, the pool area feels tucked away and peaceful. Tall green hedges offer a bit of privacy, while the surrounding skyscrapers give the space a distinctly urban charm. The area is lined with lounge chairs and umbrellas, and there’s a pool lift available for guests with mobility needs. The hotel allows food and drink via room service at the pool, so on more than one occasion, we found ourselves sipping cold drinks and soaking up the sun while the kids swam happily nearby.

We also appreciated that the pool deck had plenty of shaded areas for those mid-afternoon breaks from the sun. The poolside seating included both loungers and small tables with chairs, perfect for playing cards, enjoying snacks, or simply relaxing between dips. It wasn’t overly crowded either—there were other families and a few solo swimmers, but never so many that it felt chaotic or noisy.

What truly made the gym and pool stand out at the Omni was how family-friendly everything felt. There was no pretentious “spa-only” vibe, nor was it overly kid-centric—it struck that rare middle ground where everyone felt comfortable. My children could run, play, and splash, while we adults enjoyed the sense of calm and cleanliness that makes for a great hotel experience.

Whether you’re looking to maintain your fitness routine while travelling or just want a peaceful spot to cool off and relax, the 4th-floor gym and pool at the Omni Los Angeles Hotel are absolutely worth a visit. Thoughtfully designed, immaculately kept, and genuinely enjoyable for families, these amenities added a whole new layer of joy to our city break. After long days exploring LA’s museums, landmarks, and attractions, coming back to this tranquil rooftop retreat was the perfect way to wind down and recharge.
