During our stay at the Omni Los Angeles Hotel, we stumbled upon a wonderful surprise that quickly became a highlight for the kids — the hotel’s delightful “Scoop Social” ice cream cart. Nestled in the hotel lobby between 4 PM and 6 PM, this special treat brought extra joy and colour to our afternoon. With charming presentation, warm hospitality, and delicious ice cream, this little corner of the hotel became a memory we’ll all treasure.
The “Scoop Social” features Fosselman’s Ice Cream, a beloved local brand known for quality and flavour since 1919. The set-up itself was picture-perfect. A vintage-inspired white cart, complete with a wooden “Ice Cream” sign and pink roses decorating one of its wheels, added a whimsical touch to the hotel lobby. Blue artificial flowers in waffle cone-shaped vases, striped paper cups, and neatly stacked Omni napkins completed the inviting scene.
On offer were two classic favourites — chocolate and strawberry — served straight from large tubs by a kind and friendly server who truly made the experience extra special. Dressed in a Scoop Social apron, the gentleman manning the cart was incredibly warm, talkative, and wonderful with children. He greeted each guest with a smile, offered generous scoops, and happily chatted with us while serving.
My kids absolutely loved the whole experience. The excitement of choosing their favourite flavour, watching the ice cream being scooped fresh, and sitting in the beautiful hotel lobby to enjoy their treats made it more than just an afternoon snack — it was an event. The chocolate flavour was rich and smooth, while the strawberry was creamy, refreshing, and sweet without being overpowering. Both options were a hit with the little ones, who licked their cups clean and asked if we could come again the next day!
It’s worth noting that this complimentary treat is available daily from 4 PM to 6 PM as part of the hotel’s seasonal summer programme. A neatly framed sign on the cart proudly presented the details: “Scoop Social featuring Fosselman’s Ice Cream,” with timings clearly stated. Next to the sign, a clear bowl filled with spoons and forks, and a simple chalkboard label for each flavour added a homey, personal touch that felt welcoming and thoughtful.
Beyond the delicious ice cream, it was the atmosphere that really set this apart. The entire cart display felt like something out of a storybook, nestled beneath a canopy and surrounded by natural light streaming through the glass walls of the lobby. The floral details and pastel colours brightened the space, making it feel both elegant and fun — a rare combination that suited both families and adult guests alike.
This was more than just an ice cream offering — it was an opportunity for families to come together, slow down, and enjoy a sweet treat in a beautiful setting. It also reflected the Omni’s commitment to family-friendly service and thoughtful extras. In a city full of hustle and bustle, it was lovely to find this moment of simplicity and joy right inside our hotel.
