What are the Best Fake Markets in Beijing?

If you are heading to Beijing for a vacation or even business, you should definitely visit the fake markets. Most of these markets offer some of the best-looking, high-quality knock-off items, making them especially perfect for fast fashion lovers.

You can get anything and everything, from clothing to shoes, cosmetics, fashion accessories, and even electronics, all branded with big designer names but at a fraction of the price of the original products. Here are some of the markets worth visiting.

Silk Street Market

This is probably one of the biggest, most popular fake markets in Beijing. Silk Street is a multi-storey mall located in Xiushui East Street, Chaoyang District. It is typically filled with tiny stalls offering knock-off designer bags, watches, clothes, shoes, electronics, and jewellery, and is extremely popular among tourists and expats.

Here, you can buy “Louis Vuitton” bags, “Gucci” belts, “Nike” shoes, “Apple” headphones and more. Always check the quality of the products carefully before you buy. While they are not necessarily made to last, you still want to find the best items available.

Pearl Market

Pearl Market is located near the Temple of Heaven in the south-central area of Beijing and is easily accessible by the Tiantandongmen Station (Line 5) subway. If you love hunting for pearls and jewellery and know how to bargain, you will love this place.

You can buy imitation pearls and jewellery, smartwatches and gadgets, sunglasses and silk scarves, and many other accessories, branded as the big designer items, but not quite the real thing. Pearls can be real, semi-real, or plastic. Don't be shy to ask for verification if needed. The quality also varies a lot so inspect items closely.

Sanlitun Yashow Market

Recently renovated, this market is cleaner and more modern but still retains the charm of old-school bargaining. It is located in the heart of Beijing’s expat area, Sanlitun, and offers everything from casual wear and accessories to souvenirs that you can take back home after your trip.

Most things you can get here include “Adidas” tracksuits, designer-inspired sunglasses, sports shoes, “Supreme” hoodies, and more. This market is less crowded than Silk Street, and goods are often of slightly better quality than other fake markets. Sellers are also used to tourists, so prices might start higher.

Panjiayuan Antique Market

This is not your typical fake market for designer bags and shoes. It is one of the biggest antique markets not only in Beijing but in the whole of China, selling different types of antique items, some real and some fake.

You will find Mao memorabilia, jade, calligraphy, porcelain, old furniture, and more. It is fun for collectors and curious travellers, but don’t expect authenticity unless you know what you are looking for. Also, expect high prices unless you bargain.

Conclusion

Fake markets in Beijing are more of a fun adventure where you get to hunt for the best quality products and bargain for the best prices. Don't always expect to get high-quality products, but don't be surprised if you leave with some stunning items either. You just can never really know what is in store for you.
