That is a big claim, we know. But after staying at the Hyatt Regency Times Square, we are fairly convinced it deserves a place right at the top of the conversation. This is Manhattan's first ever Hyatt Regency, and from the moment you step through the doors, it feels like a hotel that was built to make an entrance.
The hotel opened in July 2025 following a multi million dollar renovation, and it shows in every corner. Owned by Argent Ventures and managed by Highgate, the 795 room property sits right at 1605 Broadway, in the absolute heart of Times Square. Warm wood finishes, stone clad columns, bronze accents and Broadway inspired artwork run through every part of the lobby, and walking through it you can tell just how much thought went into the design. It does not feel like a typical chain hotel lobby. It feels considered, a little theatrical, and genuinely luxurious.
Scale is really the word that keeps coming to mind here. This is a big hotel, and it feels big in the best possible way. The lobby alone could swallow up several normal hotel lobbies, and yet it never feels cold or corporate. There are little seating nooks everywhere, soft lighting, and enough space that you never feel like you are fighting through a crowd, even with nearly 800 rooms upstairs. Even the more functional parts of the hotel, like the offices and meeting rooms, carry the same design touch through glass doors and warm wood panelling.
We stayed in a room with two beds, and it was immediately clear how much care had gone into the renovation. Tufted headboards, a marble topped nightstand and big windows that flooded the room with natural light, plus a proper view over the city that made us feel like we were right in the thick of it. It is the kind of room that makes you want to linger a little longer in the morning before heading out.
The bathroom was just as impressive. Sleek marble, black fittings and a large backlit round mirror that made even a quick morning routine feel a little bit special.
We also made good use of the gym during our stay, and it is genuinely one of the most impressive hotel fitness centres we have come across in Manhattan. It is one of the largest of its kind in the city, with a huge range of cardio and strength equipment, plenty of natural light from floor to ceiling windows, and enough space that we were never queuing for a machine.
By night, Cue 48 transforms completely. What is a relaxed breakfast café by morning becomes a proper evening lounge, with cocktails, low lighting and sweeping views straight down onto the lights of Broadway. We popped down for a drink one evening and it was a real highlight of the trip.
We will let you decide for yourself, but between the sheer scale of the place, the quality of the design, the enormous fitness centre, the genuinely excellent rooms and a location that puts you right in the middle of the action, the Hyatt Regency Times Square makes a very strong case. It manages something a lot of big hotels do not, which is feeling luxurious and modern without ever feeling impersonal. For a first time visit to New York, or even your tenth, we think this one is well worth considering.
