During our family holiday in Long Beach, we had no idea that one single floor of our hotel would bring us so much joy. But the 3rd floor of the Marriott Long Beach Downtown became our favourite spot in the entire city. Every day of our stay began and ended there—with sweaty smiles in the gym, splashes in the pool, and bubbly relaxation in the hot jacuzzi. It became our little family sanctuary.
Our two kids, both keen runners, couldn’t wait to visit the fitness centre each morning. The moment we stepped through the double doors into the gym, they practically ran straight for the modern Life Fitness treadmills lined up against the huge window wall. With their built-in screens and smooth belt action, they were absolutely perfect for a fun and focused run. It was wonderful watching our children clock in their daily miles, totally motivated by the bright surroundings and open view of the city buildings outside.
We were really impressed by how spacious, clean, and well-equipped the gym was. While the kids ran, we took full advantage of the free weights, resistance machines, and even hopped on the Peloton bikes in the cycling zone, which sat in front of a dynamic mural that gave the whole room a motivating vibe. Everything felt professional, safe, and energising—the kind of hotel gym that actually makes you want to work out.
Once we had our fill of endorphins, we’d make our way outside to the rooftop pool deck—a hidden oasis nestled between the buildings. The pool was beautifully maintained, with sparkling blue water, stylish sun loungers, and comfy shaded cabanas that offered the perfect retreat from the midday sun. Our children had endless fun swimming, diving, and racing each other from end to end. The water temperature was just right—refreshing without being chilly.
But what really made the experience special for all of us was the hot jacuzzi just beside the pool. Set against a backdrop of swaying palms and city skyscrapers, this circular spa was a dream. The warm bubbling water felt amazing after a workout or swim, and we loved sitting there as a family, talking about our day while soaking in the sun. The oversized potted plants and soft lounge chairs gave the whole area a relaxed, spa-like feel.
We ended up spending hours each day up there—reading books by the pool, watching the kids splash, enjoying the breeze, and simply being together. It was peaceful and private, yet lively enough to feel fun. We also appreciated the thoughtful touches: clean towels were always available, the space was spotless, and even the seating layout gave us room to spread out comfortably.
When we think back on our stay at the Marriott Long Beach Downtown, it’s not just the comfy beds or stylish lobby that stand out. It’s the 3rd floor—the gym where our kids trained like mini athletes, the pool that gave us laughter-filled afternoons, and the jacuzzi where we melted into pure holiday bliss. That one floor became a part of our daily rhythm, a backdrop to some of our happiest moments.
If you're planning a trip to Long Beach with your family, make sure you give yourself time to enjoy what we now call “the best floor ever.” It’s more than just a gym and pool—it’s where holiday memories are made.
