In some countries, travellers are advised to ensure their polio vaccinations are up to date before travelling because the virus is still circulating in certain regions.
Various global health organisations have issued and updated health warnings for countries experiencing various disease outbreaks, with the most recent one being the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), Uganda, and South Sudan.
There have also been new active warnings for other countries, such as Haiti due to an outbreak of diphtheria and Brazil, where health officials issued preventative measles reintroduction alerts.
Note that health risks are not permanent and can change throughout the year. A country may have no health warnings for most of the year but receive updated advice during a disease outbreak or after a natural disaster. For this reason, it is always important to check the latest health advice shortly before travelling rather than relying on information you read several months earlier.
