Nestled in the heart of London, our family's stay at the Conrad London St James was marked by an exquisite exploration of culinary delights and impeccable service in the hotel's Executive Club Lounge. This elegant retreat, situated on the first floor, became a cornerstone of our experience, blending luxury with the warmth of exceptional hospitality.
Stepping into the Executive Club Lounge, we were immediately struck by the modern, comfortable decor that spoke volumes of the hotel's dedication to providing an exceptional experience. The lounge's large, airy space was dotted with multiple tables, offering both privacy and a sense of community. The soft lighting and tasteful artwork added to the ambiance, creating an environment where relaxation and luxury seamlessly met.
Our first visit to the lounge was for the highly anticipated Afternoon Tea. The ambiance of the space, with its modern decor and comfortably spacious seating, set the perfect stage for what was to be an unforgettable experience. The array of offerings was a delightful nod to traditional English tea with a sophisticated twist.
The savoury selection included creamy egg mayonnaise and tangy ham & mustard sandwiches, each bite more enticing than the last. On the sweeter side, the banana cake and chocolate brownie were sheer perfection, balancing the savoury flavours with their rich, indulgent tastes. Scones, a quintessential part of an English tea, were served warm, with the option of plain or chocolate chip, accompanied by clotted cream and strawberry jam for a classic finish. The assortment of snacks such as crisps, biscuits, and pretzels, along with a selection of cold beverages and a hot drinks machine boasting a variety of teas and coffees, ensured that every palate was catered to.
As a vegan, finding suitable dining options can often be a challenge, especially in settings that prioritize tradition. However, the Executive Club Lounge shattered all expectations. Peter, the lounge's maître d', provided us with delightful alternatives such as hummus and tomato sandwiches, vegan scones, and a scrumptious chocolate cake that rivalled any traditional dessert in both taste and presentation.
Our experience was further enriched during our visit for the evening canapés, served in the welcoming ambiance of the lounge. The assortment of cold canapés, including the roast beef vol au vent with its zesty horseradish mayonnaise and onion chutney, alongside olive tapenade croustades adorned with goat cheese mousse and pumpkin seeds, was a testament to the culinary expertise behind the scenes. The hot canapé of the day, a sumptuous roast beef with carrots and garlic sauce, was a highlight, embodying the comfort and sophistication of the lounge's offerings.
The selection of cheeses and cold cut meats, paired with a variety of snacks, ensured a well-rounded dining experience. What truly set the evening apart was the extensive selection of beverages, from fine wines and beers to spirits, including non-alcoholic options, all complemented by the ever-present tea and coffee station.
The decor of the lounge, modern yet inviting, mirrored the quality of service we received. Fast, efficient, and always with a personal touch, particularly from Peter, whose presence made our visits not just meals, but experiences to remember. His eagerness to assist, coupled with his swift and kind manner, was the epitome of outstanding service.
