We had heard that the Gild Lobby Bar & Lounge at Hilton Birmingham Metropole is known for it's delightful afternoon tea, so we had to try it while staying in this luxurious hotel. You will find the Gild Lobby Bar & Lounge in the lobby of the hotel, a very inviting space that offers luxury and elegance.

What caught our eye when we arrived was the modern bar, surrounded by tables and chairs. It provides a space that is relaxed, stylish, and sophisticated. It is the ideal place tor relax and enjoy a mouthwatering afternoon team, whether you are in Birmingham for business or pleasure.

There is something special about Gild Lobby Bar & Lounge, captivating you from the minute you first arrive. From the comfortable orange sofas to the wooden parquet flooring, you get a welcoming feel. The overall design is vibrant, complete with gold touches, that incorporate Birmingham’s rich manufacturing history.

The Gild Lobby Bar & Lounge at Hilton Birmingham Metropole have a reputation for offering delicious afternoon tea and it did not disappoint. Travelling with children is not always easy, but the afternoon tea at Hilton Birmingham Metropole made the experience easy from the minute their hot chocolates arrived. The adults opted for cappucino and tea. This was the start to our mouthwatering feast, as the staff placed two three tier trays on the table in front of us, one was vegan, the other non-vegan. Both trays boasted scones, cakes, and finger sandwiches.

The one tray was brimming with non-vegan options that included cheese and tomato, cream cheese and cucumber, and avocado finger sandwiches, along with beetroot falafel and roasted vegetables. The sandwiches were all made to provide unique tastes, allowing us to enjoy each and every flavour.

What really stood out is the professionalism of the team, taking into consideration that one of our party was vegan. The chefs presented us with a wide choice of vegan options that looked the same as the non-vegan tray. This included vegan cheese, spread, and bread. It showed how the team are able and willing to accommodate all dietary requirements.

Being scone lovers, the scones at Hilton Birmingham Metropole did not disappoint. There was a decent offering of scones, complete with jam and clotted cream, providing us with a typical British afternoon tea experience. Let's not forget the fantastic selection of chocolate cake, that was a delight for the children.

The three tier tray also offered a presentation of mouthwatering pastries, including vanilla fruit cake, Victoria sponge, apple crumble cheesecake, and a chocolate and dried fruit cake. Each one was absolutely sublime, adding the perfect final touch to this excellent afternoon tea experience.

The vegan tray was just as impressive and included two decent slices of chocolate cake with vanilla and salted caramel ice cream. What stood out was the chefs attention to detail, ensuring that the vegan tray copied the non-vegan tray, offering them the same selection.

The amount of food, combined with the superior quality, was something we will remember. We all left full and happy. The overall experience was amazing. The children adored the dessert selection and the avocado and cucumber sandwiches. What is fantastic is that the afternoon tea at Hilton Birmingham Metropole caters to all ages.

As you would expect when visiting a luxury hotel the service was outstanding with professional and attentive staff that ensured every moment of our afternoon tea was one to remember. It's not often you go somewhere where everything works seamlessly from the beautiful décor to the outstanding food presentations and superior service. Overall our afternoon tea experience in the Gild Lobby Bar & Lounge is one we will remember. We will experience it again when we next stay at Hilton Birmingham Metropole.

As we look back on our stay at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole, we have to admit that this afternoon tea was the highlight of our stay. The Gild Lobby Bar & Lounge is not only rich in history, it is a beautiful setting.
