Breakfast at at Sonesta Redondo Beach & Marina hotel at the SOL Restaurant was nothing short of spectacular and became one of the most memorable parts of our stay. Unlike dinner, which was held at Harbour, breakfast was served in an entirely different venue — a spacious, modern, and stylishly lit restaurant that buzzed with morning energy and gentle hospitality. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warmth by the attentive staff, who were not just efficient, but genuinely eager to ensure our morning started on the brightest possible note
The restaurant’s ambience was fresh and inviting, with plenty of natural light, soft grey tones, and smart, contemporary décor. The high ceiling gave the space an airy, open feel, and the tables were thoughtfully spaced, allowing for both privacy and comfort. It was clearly designed with families in mind, and our children felt right at home. They were given fun activity placemats and kids’ cups with straws, which immediately made them smile. It's such small touches that go a long way when you're travelling with children.
The food at SOL was a beautiful blend of classic American breakfast favourites and thoughtful, custom-made dishes for those with special dietary needs. Our kids were in breakfast heaven — both opted for golden slices of French toast served with maple syrup, butter, and chicken sausages on the side. One of them also had a bowl of cereal alongside it, diving happily into the familiar crunch of Cheerios with milk. Their plates were spotless by the end of the meal — a true testament to how much they enjoyed it!
As a vegan, I was deeply appreciative of the kitchen’s flexibility and the chef’s effort to create something special just for me. My breakfast began with a warm, comforting bowl of oatmeal sprinkled with raisins and brown sugar — simple, nourishing, and delicious. But the highlight was the custom-made tortilla wrap filled with fresh, crunchy vegetables and creamy hummus. It was paired with a refreshing bowl of fruit salad featuring juicy strawberries, melon, and pineapple. I also ordered a green tea, which was served steaming hot with a touch of elegance — exactly the soothing start to the day I was hoping for.
My wife went for the Chilaquiles Rojos, which came beautifully presented with two sunny-side-up eggs, a bed of crisp tortilla chips, rich guajillo salsa, crumbled cotija cheese, pickled red onions, crema, and a serving of chicken sausages. The dish looked and tasted like something out of a gourmet breakfast magazine. To accompany it, she sipped on a decaf cappuccino topped with a beautiful layer of foam, and the moment it touched her lips, she smiled — it was that good.
The variety on the table was incredible, with mini bowls of fresh berries, granola, coconut yogurt, and jam all neatly arranged on a tray. It felt more like a curated tasting experience than your average breakfast buffet. And everything was done with care — from the way the food was plated to the way the servers ensured our teacups were never empty and our kids always had what they needed.
Breakfast at SOL wasn’t just a meal — it was an experience of connection, flavour, and comfort. Our children couldn’t stop talking about how good their breakfast was and how much they liked the place. It set the tone for a perfect day ahead. If there’s one place that understands how to bring together thoughtful service, family-friendly design, and delicious food, it’s SOL Restaurant. This restaurant coupled with the Sonesta Redondo Beach & Marina is such a good combination and we can’t wait to return.
