While Foshan may not be as internationally recognised for fake markets as cities like Guangzhou or Shenzhen, it still has a thriving shopping scene, even when it comes to knockoffs and replicas. Thanks to its close proximity to major production hubs, many of the goods that land in other fake markets across China actually originate from factories in or around Foshan.
Unlike some other cities, Foshan fake markets aren’t so flashy or obvious. They are often tucked inside local shopping centres, wholesale markets, or in alleyways. Here are some of them.
Nanhai District is one of the busiest areas in Foshan, where most factories and businesses are located. Most people come here for cheap, everyday items, but you can also find smaller markets and shops that sell high-quality fake goods. These include things like branded clothes, shoes, handbags, and watches. Some of them look so real that it is hard to tell the difference unless you are an expert. The zippers, stitching, and even the labels are carefully made to look just like the real ones.
Remember that bargaining is expected. Sellers will usually give you a high price first, so don’t be shy to negotiate. Also, many sellers prefer cash payments, so bring enough with you, especially smaller notes.
If you want to shop for fake items at local prices and don’t mind walking around and looking carefully, Nanhai District is one of the best places in Foshan to do it.
NOVA Mall, also called NOVA Plaza, is one of the most popular shopping malls in Foshan. At first glance, it looks very modern and stylish, with bright lights, clean floors, and big stores. You will see well-known brand names and lots of people shopping and relaxing. But if you walk around and explore some of the smaller shops inside, you will notice even more goods.
Behind the pretty shop windows, some of the stores sell designer-inspired items. These are products that look almost the same as luxury brands like Chanel, Gucci, Dior, and Louis Vuitton, but they are not real. You may not always see the big logos on display, but the designs, colours, and styles are clearly copies of expensive fashion.
You can find handbags, shoes, sunglasses, and jewellery that look just like the latest luxury trends. The big difference is the price. They are often much cheaper than the real thing.
Foshan may not be packed with fake markets like some of China’s bigger cities, but that doesn’t mean you will leave empty-handed. While there may not be replica goods on every corner, there are still a few key places where you can find good-quality knock-offs.
The fake market scene here is also more low-key and hidden, often tucked away in wholesale districts like Nanhai or inside modern malls like NOVA. You won’t see rows of loud stalls openly selling fakes.
From trendy boutiques selling designer-style fashion to local shops with carefully made replicas, Foshan offers something for everyone, whether you are looking for luxury copies, something stylish, or just fun fashion at a good price.
